MONEY IS LIKE WATER ...

Money is a little like water. It flows. It is essential for the unfolding of human life. It is a substance that is precipitated from above. The mysteries of water are being revealed through the work of researchers such as Dr. Masaru Emoto. The mysteries of money are also being revealed. A flow of money is necessary for the healthy unfolding and sustaining of religious life. Essentially it flows from the grateful heart. And as much as it flows through and from us, it can return in its flow.

From time to time our treasurer invites us to consider the amount of our share of making it possible for The Christian Community to be available to us as part of our lives. Part of this consideration is to bring to mind just what we receive personally through the sacraments and services and all else that flows through The Christian Community. And not only what we receive ourselves, but also what our support makes possible in the lives of others.

Canberra Congregation Treasurer's Report

Thanks to the generous support of so many of you members and friends of the Canberra Christian Community, we have once again managed our inflows and outflows for the year, with a small surplus of some thousands of dollars for 2009 which we will allocate to our gift and building funds in the usual way.

In the best spirit of the Old Testament Joseph story, we store our surplus away for leaner financial times which will surely come in the future. We are so aware that a small Community like ours survives only by grace, and because of that every gift you give is doubly important.

Of particular significance is our Committee's work with our Gifts and
Donations Fund, which as you will have read or heard elsewhere has assisted with many worthy causes now over more than two years. We continue to work in this way and trust that what flows in will be enough to meet the needs of The Christian Community in Australia and the region while we also plant these small financial-spiritual seeds in the wider community.
